Hi Chris, I can't help but wonder, is the bondo putty absolutely necessary? I though filler primers were supposed to do most of the smoothing? But why coat it all with bondo putty then sand it too? I'm have never done body work btw

I own one of the first generation KSC Auto 9 about 14 years ago, and it didn't come with the orange tip, it was actually the tip painted neon orange, which I removed and repainted satin black. Also, I took one of the two magazines and shaved a tiny notch from the top side which tells the gun when the last round is expended, and allowing me to fire the gun endlessly. Okay a few things: 1) You start off using the marker mat, but you appear to be in feature tracking mode. If you're in feature tracking mode you don't need the mat. Or else use the mat and select tracker mode! 2) You have the scanner on Dark Mode - this will drop your frame rate down (hence getting your underwhelming 5-7fps) but help with very dark/shiny objects. You don't need it for this - use General Object mode. That's why you're losing tracking so much. You can also pause and rewind frames if you get frame slip. 3) You can do that object in one scan - just pause the scan, reposition yourself or the object, and then unpause and the tracking should reacquire (although don't move the object on the mat if you're in marker mode!) - but with this there's no need to do multiple scans and merge them. 4) There's a Base Removal tool during scanning to cut out the base you're on - tbh though with this object I wouldn't advise it, as it may affect capture of the flat areas. Experiment though! 5) You didn't show your fusion process - or are you using One-Click? Your fusing stage seems to be around 0.9mm - that's why you're getting soft edges. It will take longer to process obviously at higher detail levels - you may have to leave it for 20 mins - such is life! At the end of the day though there's a limit to what it can resolve as a wide-area/FOV scanner. If you need more crisp detail then you have to use a smaller-FOV scanner, like their POP3. 6) Close the door of the garage. The system is pretty sensitive to UV/daylight (perhaps why you needed to use Dark Mode) so shut that daylight out if possible!
